According to the news from British Reuters,  GM decided to close its Opel bochum plant due to the low capacity of Opel factory in Germany bochum and the great loss. Opel union warned GM that the close of  bochum plant will cause heavy loss to GM, which will tarnish the image of the company. After the staff meeting in Bochum city, the union chairman of German opel bochum plant, Rainer Einenkel, who said on press conference held on Saturday that the close of bochum plant will lose billions of dollars. He also said that GM has been committed to reduce opel operation cost, and intends to transfer its car production from the west European countries with high cost to emerging markets with lower salary, but this action could make high personnel severance costs and face a prosecuted risk.

As a member of the board of supervisors of Opel, Rainer Einenkel said that Bochum plant has already been a history of more than 50 years, and the close of  bochum plant will seriously damage the image of GM.

Opel union chairman said that GM will do its best to attract investments for bochum plant, because the plant is set up on coal mine, and it needs a huge sum of money to recove.
